Yea!

Put some water in with the red.

Paint a nice bold red line right on to the yellow and rinse out your brush with water and use the wet brush to blend the red up into the sky.

Keep blending till it disappears. Your sky should be darker red at the horizon line and lighter and lighter as it goes up and disappears.

Now while your sky is drying mix some red with some of the blue and fifteen brush loads of water. Purple is a secondly color.
