Lay your ruler vertically lined up with the bottom line and draw a line toward the top line. Lengthen or shorten the top line to make it end on the second vertical line
Erase any extra marks.
Now lay your ruler with the zero end touching the bottom of the first vertical line again but angle it toward the left dot.
